The Over-Strength Coefficient of Masonry-Infilled RC Frame Structures under Bidirectional Ground Motions

چکیده
The over-strength coefficient is one of the key factors for seismic safety a structure. For RC frames, infill wall may improve lateral bearing capacity, while demand increases as well, which leads to unexpected performance an infilled frame in past earthquakes. Therefore, it necessary systematically study effect frames from point capacity and demand. In this paper, 36 structures with/without walls are designed, corresponding finite element modelings, considering in-plane out-of-plane coupling walls, established conduct incremental dynamic analyses (IDA). values coefficients calculated, utilizing IDA results under bidirectional ground motions. effects precautionary intensity number stories on discussed. value apparently higher than that bare frame, due contribution walls. However, analysis shows capacity–demand ratio masonry-infilled greatly reduced, especially bottom soft-story frame.

Calibration of a Numerical Model for Masonry Infilled Rc Frames
This paper introduces a finite element scheme and a systematic calibration approach for masonry infilled RC frames. The modeling scheme combines the smeared crack approach with discrete crack elements to allow for the opening of diffused flexural and dominant shear cracks. It is, therefore, able to capture the nonlinear material behavior and the interaction of the infill wall with the bounding ...
متن کاملFinite Element Modeling and Mechanical Behavior of Masonry- Infilled RC Frame
During the analysis of reinforced concrete structures, the infill wall is usually simplified as a diagonal inclined strut to facilitate finite element modeling calculations. However, the actual seismic damage and single frame-filled wall pushover experimental results show that when the earthquake shear force is huge, the top of the infill wall and the beam–column connections are usually, thus t...
متن کاملThe FP4026 Research Database on the fundamental period of RC infilled frame structures
The fundamental period of vibration appears to be one of the most critical parameters for the seismic design of buildings because it strongly affects the destructive impact of the seismic forces. In this article, important research data (entitled FP4026 Research Database (Fundamental Period-4026 cases of infilled frames) based on a detailed and in-depth analytical research on the fundamental pe...
متن کاملPrediction of the Fundamental Period of Infilled RC Frame Structures Using Artificial Neural Networks
The fundamental period is one of the most critical parameters for the seismic design of structures. There are several literature approaches for its estimation which often conflict with each other, making their use questionable. Furthermore, the majority of these approaches do not take into account the presence of infill walls into the structure despite the fact that infill walls increase the st...
متن کاملMicro-modeling of Masonry Infilled RC Moment Resisting Frames to Investigate Arrangement of Compressive Diagonal Struts
Accurate modeling of masonry has been a major concern of the researchers in the past decades. Besides reinforced and unreinforced masonry structures, masonry can be found in frame structures as infill panels which are used as partitions and/or external walls. These elements role as a part of structure and introduce a large degree of nonlinearity into the system. In this study, a micro-modeling ...
